Madinah: The history of Madinah was illuminated by words and pictures to a large art exhibition which opened in the city last month.
entitled "letters Illuminated," the exhibit includes displays of calligraphy and photographs from the 19th century.
He is currently detained in Al-Aqeeq District, about 7 km from the Prophet's Mosque in Medina. Ayman Hafez, director of the exhibition, told Arab News, the exhibition is organized to celebrate the selection of Madinah as the capital of Islamic culture for 2013.
the art includes early photographs taken in Medina by an Egyptian, Sadeq Bey 1880 and the Indian photographer Mirza 1881, as part of a chronological photographic essay until 1920.
These photographs are the Foundation of King Abdul Aziz, King Fahd public Library and the archives of international organizations mentioned, including the Royal Geographic Society and Barakat Trust. There are also photos of some Western orientalists and Saudi famous photographers and young artists. the exhibition includes the work of various artists on the Saudi mosque pilgrims Prophet, antiques of the region, natural landscapes, and aerial photographs of the city. Several participants of the exhibition are from Jordan, Egypt, Japan, China, Syria, Morocco, UAE, Lebanon, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Kuwait.
All paintings are original, says Hafez, including a painting from 1825, which includes the names of 18 sites in Turkish, and depicts Madinah and surrounding areas, such as the dome, the five minarets, mountains surrounding, agricultural fields and main buildings.
the event will include the publication of "Al -Madinah Al-Munawwarah," a book that presents images of well-known photographers in the world and edited by the photographer Humberto da Silveira. The exhibition is open until March 9, 2014.
