The winners of the King Abdullah International Prize for Translation
Riyadh: The winners of the International Prize for Translation King Abdullah was announced here last fortnight. The award, in its 6th edition, was given this year for the translation for institutions, translation in humanities and natural sciences, as well as individual efforts in translation. There are nine award winners, including an institution and eight. The price in the humanities went to Dr. Cecilia Martini for his translation of the book "Al-Farabi: Philosophy of Plato and Aristotle" from Arabic into Italian. The price for individual efforts in translation jointly to Dr. Joao Baptista de Medeiros Vargens, a Brazilian university professor and author of several studies on the history of translation, education and analysis, and Dr. Luis Miguel Perez Canada, a Spanish university professor who supervised more than 40 Spanish-Arabic translation programs in literature and Arab thought. Winners of translation in natural sciences from other languages into Arabic were Reem Mohammad Al-Towairqi for his translation from English into Arabic of the book "How it works: The physics of everyday life" and Dr Abdulansser Salah Ibrahim and Dr Ali Abdullah Al-Salama for translation from English into Arabic, the book of Michael Wilson "of the human being bacteriology. An ecological point of view "the price in the humanities for translating other languages into Arabic was shared by Dr. Salwa Suleiman naqli for her translation of the book by Peter Stockwell" Cognitive Poetics: An introduction "of English into Arabic and Ms. Rasha Saad Zaki for his translation of the book by Thomas Sowell "Applied Economics" from English into Arabic.
