Dubai unveils plans for Islamic economics
Dubai Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum has appointed Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum at the head of the board to oversee the development of Islamic economics in the emirates. The sovereign unveiled plans on January 10, that the Khaleej Times, named as "turn Dubai into a capital of the Islamic world economy." Shaikh Mohammed said that Islamic economic principles have played an increasing role in the global business environment of today with its size to $ 2.3 trillion. The initiatives include the development of commercial standards for Islamic industries and guidelines for the manufacture halal food, Islamic insurance, Islamic arbitration contracts, and the Islamic quality management standards.
