Journal Launched New London
The Muslim Institute launched the critical Muslim, a quarterly magazine of ideas and questions featuring the reflection of revolutionary Islam and what it means to be Muslim in rapid, interconnected world. The journal is edited jointly by Ziauddin Sardar renowned intellectual and Robinson Yassin Kassab. The first issue was launched in January 2012 with the cover story on
the Arab Spring. The journal will publish the numbers in January, April, July and September. Samia Rahman is editor deputy chief. Among the associate editors are Abdulwahhab el-Affendi, Muhammad Idrees Ahmad, Iqbal Azariah, Michael Muhammad Knight, Vinay Lal, Hassan
Mahamdallie and Ehsan Masood. International Advisory Board has several big names among the authors and writers like William Dalrymple, anthropologist Ashish Nandy and Arif Mohammed Khan of Delhi, Karen Armstrong of the United States and Anwar Ibrahim of Malaysia, etc. Author of several books, Ziauddin Sardar teaches at Middlesex University and is known for his writings rational. Having closely observed the Islamic movements and contemporary scholarship, it has emerged as the most competent of the Islamic writers of the last century criticism. It offers a new perspective on Islamic and Western values and innovated by setting and interpretation of the Holy Quran.
The present Muslim criticism of Muslim perspectives on the great debates of our time. It aims to emphasize the plurality and diversity of Islamand Muslims and to promote dialogue, cooperation and collaboration between Islam and other cultures, including the West. He looks at all critical and challenging traditionalist, modernist, and apologetic fundamentalist versions of Islam and established conventions and orthodoxies of the dominant cultures.
