"women drivers in Saudi Arabia will be treated strictly" said a statement issued by the ministry. "The ministry will apply the regulations firmly against those who violate the laws of the country," he said.
Speaking to Arab News, Al-Hoda Abdulrahman Helaissi, a woman member of the Shura Council, supported the movement to allow women to drive, but said it was not the right time.
"We are not fully prepared that Saudi society is changing on all fronts. There are still substantial resistance from a large segment of Saudi society, who do not want that women use cars on the roads. "
Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki, spokesman of the ministry, was quoted as saying on a new website online that people "should not undermine the social cohesion of the Kingdom by spreading discord ..."
A Saudi woman said that the campaign was enlisted women ready to take the cars on the road October 26, 2014.
last year, the Ministry issued similar warnings to the organizers of the campaign, which saw women posting videos to drive on the roads throughout the UK.
