Etihad Airways discount for humanitarian efforts in Nepal
Abu Dhabi Etihad Airways UAE has recently received an award for his efforts after Nepal disaster earthquake in April this year.
The award was presented by Airlink, which is a non-profit humanitarian organization that connects airlines nonprofit prequalified.
When a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck central Nepal on April 25 this year, Etihad Airways Airlink contacted to ask airline tickets for volunteers. Etihad Airways provided airline tickets for 54 humanitarian workers of the United States, Europe and Australia to get to Kathmandu. Etihad Airways President and CEO James Hogan operations said: "The relationship with Airlink is important, allowing us to provide rapid logistics support and essential to those who are most in need through the NGO network in general." this support is part of a larger rescue launched by Etihad Airways program to help the people of Nepal It included the donation of 5,000 blankets which were transported to Nepal by Emirates Red Crescent. collection of more than 270,000 dirhams raised by staff through various fundraising activities. and the provision of more than 10,000 kilograms of excess baggage charge for passenger transport relief and emergency assistance in the country the award was presented to Linden Coppell, head of sustainable development at Etihad Airways, the Conference of the economy Airline in Hong Kong
