Al-Azhar Clerics Slam attack on Tunisia, Kuwait and France
Cairo: Muslim clerics condemned three militant attacks in Tunisia, Kuwait and France on Friday that killed dozens of people, including tourists last month. Al-Azhar, Sunni Muslim institution leading based in Egypt, said the "heinous" shooting in a Tunisian coastal resort that killed 28 people, mostly Europeans, was a "violation of all religious norms and humanitarian" . In a statement, he also condemned a suicide bombing in a Shiite mosque in Kuwait that killed at least 25 worshipers in an attack claimed by Daesh (the so-called IS) group. "Al-Azhar calls on the international community to defeat the terrorist group that all available means," he said in a statement referring to Daesh. The militant group, which controls parts of Syria and Iraq and controls subsidiaries in several other countries had called for attacks during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. n
