Jeddah: Fifteen missions abroad, including teams from France, Italy, the United States , Great Britain, Germany, Japan and Belgium, cooperating with the General Authority of tourism and antiquities, Saudi Arabia, to explore 15 projects on historical and archaeological sites in different regions of Saudi Arabia . The archaeological study began in the kingdom 40 years ago with the implementation of five-year plans made by the Saudi missions in cooperation with foreign missions. Through the missions, many archaeological sites have been identified and recorded and some sites were chosen for further exploration. Archaeological finds include ancient cities of artifacts, such as housing units, architectural buildings, castles, forts and towers. Other discoveries include ponds and dams, canals and wells, pottery, tools, soapstone, different colored glass objects and forms, coins and metal ornaments, weapons, minerals, and many rock drawings and inscriptions on Nabataean Mosnad and South, as well as other scripts
Daifallah Ettalhi, head of Tourism and Archaeology at the University of hail and the Chairman of the Saudi side of the Mission Saudi-french on Madain Saleh site, said :. "The Arabian Peninsula is the cradle of ancient civilizations, but many aspects of its great history still unexplored. The work of the Authority in this area is leading the archaeological detection to a deeper understanding of the history of the Arab nations and Muslim women, and human history in general. "According Ettalhi, the mission found many objects Madain Saleh, including coins dating back to the reign of al-Harith, the fourth king of the Nabataeans who ruled over the period from 9 to 40 BC AD.
