Sermons on food wastage during Ramadan by Imam Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi Worshippers at every mosque in the UAE capital received a Ramadan message prepared in collaboration with the Agency environmental Abu Dhabi (EAD), advising them to think twice before cooking too much food. EAD is a governmental organization that aims to create a greener planet. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, every year, 1.3 billion tonnes of food is wasted worldwide, an amount equal to the total food production in sub-Saharan Africa. Worshipers said that reducing food waste directly translate deep cuts in manufacturing and the use of fertilizers and pesticides, and avoid transportation fuel consumption and resulting emissions.
