refugees in the Muslim countries on the rise
Jeddah: The June 20, many countries celebrate World Refugee Day with U.N. awareness events at the refugee situation. In recent years, Muslim countries have seen a huge growth refugees. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), António Guterres, said recently that "in 2011, 57 the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) states, hosted 50 percent of people who are under the jurisdiction of UNHCR 17.6 million in total. Several representatives of the OIC member states met at a conference focusing on refugees in the Muslim world in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan last month to solve this problem in a way that can promote stability and peace. This question is crucial because it can be years before those who are currently refugees canreturn home. Khalid Koser, an expert at the Washington, DC-based Brookings Institution think tank, estimates that there were about two million refugees who left the countries affected by the Arab Spring.
