faith museum in makkah

Makkah: Mossessian Architecture, the architectural practice based in London, in collaboration with Studio Adeline Rispal, practice in based architecture exhibition in Paris, won an invited competition to design a museum of Islamic faith in Mecca.
Makkah Museum will be located 7 km from the Grand Mosque and offer a unique interpretation and reflection of faith for millions of Muslims visiting Mecca from around the world and which, until this point, have had no cultural institution of this kind to enhance their visit to the holiest of Muslim cities.
As visitors journey through the museum, they learn about the life of the Prophet (pbuh) through exhibitions and panoramic movies installed on each side of the ramp, ultimately arrive at a "garden delight "at the top of the building. Here, there is a series of controlled geometric gardens climactically where small and large groups of visitors can come together even in the hottest months.
Recognizing the need to appeal to Muslims around the world, the system proposes to use stones from all countries where Islam is practiced in the construction of the exterior wall of the building, and Hijaz rock local mountains of Mecca for the interior. The interior of the rock is used to create alcoves and foundations that visitors encounter as they go up the ramp. . These house the exhibition displays, which tell the story of the life of the Prophet (pbuh) and enrich the understanding of Islam
